Dr. Kuldip Paliwal

Dr. Kuldip Paliwal is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Alliance Bank (Zambia) Limited, a role he has held since September 2020. With about 28 years of distinguished banking experience across Africa and South Asia, he brings deep expertise in Corporate Banking, SME & Retail Banking,Wealth Management , and International Banking.

Since assuming leadership at First Alliance Bank, Dr. Paliwal has been pivotal in strengthening the institution’s,operational efficiency, and market positioning. His leadership style combines strategic foresight with operational precision, fostering sustainable growth in an evolving financial sector.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Paliwal held senior leadership positions at the Bank of Maldives (Maldives) as Director of Business, and at Exim Bank ( Tanzania) as Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking. His career also spans impactful roles in India at ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank and Citibank, where he built a track record in strategic growth, risk management, compliance, and operational excellence.

A expert on corporate governance and board effectiveness, Dr. Paliwal holds a Ph.D. in Business Management from the University of Zambia, an MBA from the University of London (UK), and a Master of Business Economics (Finance) from D.A. University (India). He also holds a M.Sc. in Statistics and a B.Sc. in Statistics and Mathematics from the University of Allahabad (India).

Professionally, he is a Chartered Banker (MCBI) from the Chartered Banker Institute (UK), a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), and has completed the Executive Programme in Fintech, Banking, and Risk Management from IIM-Lucknow (India). He is also a Qualified Independent Director, a life member of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs; a Certified Corporate Director, Fellow–Life member with the Institute of Directors (India); and a member of the Institute of Directors (Zambia).
